John Melluish awarded Life Membership of ARITA

In May this year, after many years of not inducting any new life members, the ARITA board made the decision to honour six outstanding members with the award.

We managed to surprise four of them at our National Conference in August and travelled to Adelaide in October to surprise another. But one remained elusive until last night!

John Melluish RITF is a former ARITA President (2005–07) and long serving board and committee member. In more recent years, John returned to the NSW/ACT committee, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to the organisation.

He played a pivotal role in work such as the development of the Code of Professional Practice and was instrumental in the building of the national office of ARITA and its professionalisation.

Life membership is generally regarded as being reserved for those who have made a profound difference at the highest benchmark.

Despite our origins tracing back to 1931, ARITA has just 24 Life members stretching back to 1993, eight of whom are sadly no longer with us.

The ARITA Board is honoured to induct John Melluish as a Life Member.
