David Lombe RITF

David is the Partner in Charge NSW Corporate Reorganisation Group at Deloitte, and is a Registered Liquidator and Registered Trustee in bankruptcy.

He is a reconstruction and insolvency partner with over 20 years' experience in advising organisations. In April 2001, David was appointed Inspector of HIH and prepared a widely acknowledged report which was used by the Royal Commission as a 'road map' for their investigations. In addition, he gave evidence as the first witness in the HIH Royal Commission into the failure of HIH.

Subsequently, in May 2002 David was appointed Provisional Liquidator of United Medical Protection and its subsidiaries (UMP), Australia’s largest medical defence organisation. This appointment involved ongoing negotiation with government bodies and key stakeholders to restructure the affairs of UMP in order to allow UMP to continue providing insurance to its members. UMP was successfully restructured and returned to trade under the control of newly formed boards appointed by the Provisional Liquidator. The successful restructure from provisional liquidation being an Australian corporate law first.

David was also joint administrator of W.C. Penfold, Wesbus and has recently been appointed Receiver of Retravision.

David provides clear, practical commercial advice to banks and lending institutions that adds value to their asset structuring and credit management teams. This includes, but is not limited to pre lending reviews, business viability reviews, investigating accountants’ reports, receiverships and voluntary administrations.

David has extensive experience in health, insurance, construction, retail, professional practices, manufacturing, printing and has also undertaken major investigations including providing litigation support.

In 2017, David was made a Fellow of ARITA and was awarded with Life Membership in 2018.
