Mike Hayes is a Consulting Principal at national firm, Keypoint Law. He is widely respected for his expertise in dispute resolution across all aspects of restructuring, insolvency and turnaround. He advises insolvency practitioners, directors, creditors and financial institutions on personal and corporate insolvency matters, both in Australia and internationally. Acting for multiple stakeholders has given him a balanced perspective that helps deliver sound commercial outcomes. 

Mike is recognised and recommended as a leading practitioner by Legal 500 Asia-Pacific, Doyle’s Guide, and Best Lawyers. His experience spans restructuring and insolvency, commercial litigation, dispute resolution and alternative dispute resolution.

He is a long-standing member of ARITA and currently serves as National President. He also sits on the SA/NT Division Committee (former Chair) and is Deputy Chair of the AFSA and ASIC Liaison Committees. 

Mike is actively engaged as an advisor and educator in the insolvency and restructuring community. He regularly presents at ARITA National, Divisional and Small Practice Conferences as well as to regulators and other industry stakeholders. He has facilitated the ARITA Advanced Certification workshops and was admitted as a Fellow of ARITA in 2017.  Mike joined the ARITA National Board in 2019, was appointed Vice President in 2023, Deputy President in 2024, and President in 2025.

Outside the profession, Mike is a former board member of the South Australian Rugby Union and an active rugby union referee.
