Peter Schmidt RITF

Peter is a Partner and Head of Brisbane Office of Norton Rose Fulbright, a leading international law firm with over 25 years’ experience in commercial disputes and insolvency & restructuring.
His clients include major corporations, Australian and international banks and financial institutions, and insolvency practitioners. He has particular expertise in corporate turnaround and recovery, cross border insolvency, advising secured lenders on debt management and secured loan recovery, and acting for receivers, liquidators, voluntary administrators and trustees on the broad range of issues that can arise during their appointments.

Peter also has considerable experience with investigations undertaken by ASIC, and the winding up of Managed Investment Schemes. In recognition of Peter’s expertise, he also sits on the Law Council of Australia’s Insolvency and Reconstruction Queensland Sub-Committee.

At Norton Rose Fulbright, Peter sits on the internal committee responsible for risk management nationally, and acts as the risk partner for the Brisbane office. This role involves managing risk and any conflict issues that may arise. Peter regularly gives presentations on a wide range of issues including Insolvency and secured lending recovery related topics, as well as legal practice management, risk and ethical issues.

In 2017, Peter was made a Fellow of ARITA.
