Leadership in turnarounds

Successful turnarounds require the right leadership and management capabilities to be put in place, and quickly.

Restructuring and turnaround professionals need to be able to critically evaluate an organisation's current talent, select who stays and who goes, and install the right leadership team to develop and execute the recovery plan.

In this course you will gain a deeper understanding of the critical function of leadership and how it differs in turnaround situations.

Learning objectives

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify the critical capabilities and leadership attributes required for the turnaround.
  • Evaluate the ‘will’ and ‘skill’ of leaders and other key roles.
  • Assess who is accountable for the decline and decide who stays and who goes.
  • Identify the ‘best-fit’ psychological profiles for turnaround leader and team roles.

Prerequisites

We recommend you have one year of on-the-job experience prior to attending this course.

Course format

A two-hour presentation covering the theory, plus at least one practical exercise.
