Managing a turnaround as a project

In a turnaround, it is critical to get the right balance between planning and executing.
The restructuring and turnaround professional must develop an effective turnaround plan that draws attention to critical turnaround initiatives, and implement this plan within the constraints of a turnaround.

In this course you will gain an understanding of the characteristics of effective turnaround plans – including why many plans fail – by applying the principles of agile project management to the execution of the turnaround plan.

Learning objectives

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Recognise the benefits of applying project management methodology to turnarounds.
  • Understand agile project management as a tool to implement restructuring and turnaround.
  • Identify common strategic initiatives for both portfolio and business unit levels.
  • Apply operational and accountability tools, including work breakdown structures, to drive effective implementation of the plan.

Turnaround executives, insolvency practitioners, chief operating officers, senior executives, project and program managers.

Prerequisites

We recommend you have at least one year of on-the-job experience prior to attending this course.
