WA Forum: Workplace OH&S - pending changes to the WA regime
Stephen Lewis (Practice Leader - Safety) from Gallagher's Workplace Risk Practice team, together with Sarah Harrison (Partner, OH&S) from HWL Ebsworth, will provide an insight into workplace and OH&S issues in insolvency appointments.
Under modernised Work Health and Safety laws, insolvency practitioners could be personally liable for significant fines associated with work health and safety obligations. You will not be able to obtain insurance or be indemnified for work health and safety fines. Do you understand the new offence of corporate manslaughter including possible jail terms? How will you protect yourself?
Mental health issues including bullying, harassment, discrimination and intimidation are now workplace safety issues for which you could be liable, not just on a job but in your own firm. Modernised Work Health and Safety laws make it very clear that saving costs cannot come at the expense of meeting work health and safety duties - how can you make sure you will comply?
These topics and more will be addressed in this session, which is of critical importance to WA insolvency practitioners due to pending changes to the WA legislative regime.
