25 years of National Conference

Celebrating its 25th year, ARITA's National Conference will continue to bring together the who’s who of Australia’s restructuring, insolvency and turnaround profession to discuss issues of national and international importance.

Taking place at the Hyatt Regency Sydney on 24-25 October, the two-day conference program features high-profile keynote addresses and expert speakers covering the most relevant topics for your practice. Our interactive program will once again combine technical sessions with tailored masterclass presentations and case studies.

Keynote addresses

Ten years ago, the collapse of Lehman Brothers, which led to the largest bankruptcy filing in U.S. history with over $600 billion in assets, symbolised the power of the global financial crisis. These complex and ground-breaking proceedings, including the $500 million settlement for the Australian administration, were presided over by the Honorable James M. Peck, former United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of New York. Judge Peck will reflect on the Lehman Brothers experience and consider where we are now, particularly given the scrutiny of our financial institutions by the Royal Commission.

Having presented and worked with leaders across six different continents, our second keynote speaker Holly Ransom recently interviewed former US President Obama, and was listed by Sir Richard Branson as one of his six dream dinner guests. As CEO of Emergent, Holly specialises in disruptive strategy and building the capacity of leaders to execute change. In her keynote, Holly will shed a light on the shifting global ‘trust landscape’. Trust is critical for our profession. Yet despite our important role, stakeholders outside of the profession are often sceptical of insolvency professionals. Who and how we trust is shifting, dramatically and quickly, and we’re moving to an age of ‘distributed trust’ where reputation has never mattered more. Holly will help us understand how to remain effective in this new landscape and be aware of the role of trust in human relationships, innovation and society.

Conference Dinner & Welcome Reception

Our popular Conference Dinner takes place in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Sydney, following Day 1 of the Conference. This year the Dinner will be black tie, to celebrate the 25th anniversary in style.

Attendance at the dinner is included in your conference ticket. There is also an option to purchase a guest/partner ticket for the dinner, or a table of 10 to host clients/guests. Please add these options below before proceeding to checkout.

Please note: dinner tickets are only available to conference delegates – they cannot be booked separately.

Pre-dinner drinks will be served from 6.30 pm on Wednesday 24 October followed by a three-course dinner, all taking place with stunning waterfront views of Sydney's iconic Darling Harbour through the floor to ceiling windows.

We kick off the event with the networking Welcome Reception on Tuesday 23 October from 6.30 pm, with drinks and canapes at Hacienda Sydney, a vista bar inspired by the grand plantation architecture of Cuba, mixed with the modern vintage hotels of 1950’s Miami. Hacienda has arguably one of Sydney's most iconic views of the Harbour Bridge, making it the perfect location for guests to catch up with colleagues and meet new contacts informally before the conference.

A limited number of rooms are available at the Hyatt Regency Sydney for conference delegates, at special rates of $320 per night (excluding breakfast). Rooms are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please note: The week of the conference will be a busy time in Sydney with the Invictus Games running from 20-27 October, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
