National Conference 2019
Our 2019 National Conference will take place at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne
on Wednesday 24 - Thursday 25 July
(with the networking Welcome Reception on Tuesday 23 July
The 2019 program will feature high-profile keynote addresses and expert speakers covering the most relevant topics in technical sessions, plus tailored masterclass presentations and case studies.
Following day 1 of the conference on Wednesday 24 July, the popular conference dinner will begin just a stone's throw from the conference venue with pre-drinks served from 6.30 pm at the spectacular Plaza Ballroom
(next to the Regent Theatre on Collins St). A three-course dinner will follow with entertainment and networking late into the evening.
We will kick off the event with the networking Welcome Reception on Tuesday 23 July
from 6 pm with exclusive use of the QT Rooftop Bar
. Guests will enjoy drinks, canapes and incredible views across Melbourne’s inner city rooftops.
If you wish to only attend the dinner, you can purchase an individual ticket or table of 10 without attending the conference.

John Hewson: economist, academic, author, politician, businessperson, media personality, award winner and philanthropist. With a list of experiences and achievements that inspire, educate and delight, ARITA are pleased to deliver an hour with the formidable Dr John Hewson. Dr Hewson will speak to our National Conference delegates about Australia’s ability to recover from global economic shock.
Georgie Harman was appointed CEO of Beyond Blue in May 2014 where she has led a significant expansion of effort and results in service innovation, suicide prevention and digital solutions. In this not-to-be missed session, Georgie will discuss the impact of financial stress on mental health and wellbeing, the importance of better engaging with people in these situations and tips from Beyond Blue.
Georgie will also describe what a mentally healthy workplace looks like including for those who live with a mental health condition.
Michael Hodge, QC, was called to the Bar in 2004 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2017. Michael has an extensive commercial litigation practice and was one of the leading lights of the 2018 Banking and Finance Royal Commission. In a Q&A with ARITA President Ross McClymont, Michael will take us beyond the Royal Commission and unpack the impacts of community expectations on our profession, which traditionally has a focus on technical compliance. How should we respond and what larger lessons are to be drawn?
