Daniel Oakes, Senior Reporter, ABC News

ABC investigative reporter Daniel Oakes shares the inside story of how he and his team uncovered and broke the story of one of Australia’s allegedly most significant phoenix operators, Philip Whiteman.

Daniel will explain the arduous process of assembling the story and give insights into the critical role investigative journalists play in shining a light on this behaviour. Given the recent AFP raid on ABC headquarters, Daniel is sure to give a thought-provoking perspective on the importance of maintaining a free press and allowing investigative journalists to do their jobs without undue scrutiny.
