6 month suspension of membership - Mr Christopher Powell
In November 2014, Christopher Powell, an ARITA member practicing in Adelaide, South Australia self-reported a breach of the ARITA Code of Professional Practice (“the Code”).
The breach was in respect of the obligation under Chapter 10 of the Code which prohibits practitioners from acquiring directly or indirectly any assets under the administration of the practitioner.
The member has voluntarily submitted the assets which he acquired at public auction in 2011 for public re-sale by the same method. The sale proceeds up to the initial purchase price of $7,000 will be paid to a charity selected by ARITA and any additional funds will be remitted to the company to which the member was appointed as receiver.
After taking into account the above, the member's ARITA membership has been suspended for a period of 6 months.
