WA Division Conference & Dinner
The 2018 WA Division Conference & Dinner was once again held at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre on Thursday 23 August.
The packed half-day conference was followed by excellent networking opportunities at the dinner with pre-dinner drinks, a sit-down three course meal and guest speaker, Matt Hodgson, the former captain of the Western Force rugby team and now a business owner.
Sessions included:
Paladin Energy: panel discussion on one of Australia’s most complex financial restructurings with insight into the attempts to restructure solvently, the complexities associated with that process and how the outcome was unlocked through voluntary administration.
Insolvency in the public eye: the importance of strategic communication - A panel of industry experts discussed the importance of effective communication to the media, public and stakeholders during an insolvency.
Bankruptcy update: panel discussion featuring accountants, lawyers and AFSA on a range of current bankruptcy law and practice issues including assigning claims, 12 month discharge and realisation of assets.
ILRA: Almost a year on from the substantive commencement of the ILRA, this session discussed the most commonly raised queries from members with an opportunity for practitioners to share their own insights and experiences.
