Course structure

The course offers unparalleled practicality, flexibility and depth, combining the two units from the renowned ARITA Advanced Certification with three additional units to deliver a well-rounded Graduate Diploma:


ARITA Advanced Certification units

The course structure includes the following two units of competency that provide an early exit point for students who intend to apply for registration as a Liquidator or Trustee or the ARITA membership.


This unit covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to apply the principles and practices of insolvency law in Australia, focusing on restructuring, insolvency and turnaround strategies. 

This unit ensures a solid understanding of Australia’s formal insolvency regime for both corporates and individuals as well as building an understanding of the complicated issue of insolvency and trusts.

This unit covers the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to lead and advise on restructuring and turnaround strategies.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead the development of financial strategy for an organisation or work area. It covers the use and interpretation of financial information to support business decision making, analysis and enterprise planning.

To achieve the qualification 11319NAT Graduate Diploma of Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround, students must successfully complete all five (5) units of competency: 3 core units + 2 electives.

Where the full course is not completed, a VET Statement of Attainment will be issued for each unit successfully completed.

Duration

Each unit consists of 12 structured weeks of training, delivered within a five (5) month period. This overall timeframe includes enrolment, pre-commencement activities, scheduled breaks, post-training, and reassessment.

Upon completion of the 11319NAT Graduate Diploma of Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround, graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate advanced and integrated knowledge of restructuring, insolvency and turnaround principles, including their theoretical underpinnings and practical application in professional settings.
  • Interpret and apply complex legal and regulatory frameworks, exercising sound judgement in insolvency-related matters within dynamic legislative and commercial environments.
  • Critically analyse and evaluate restructuring and turnaround strategies, using evidence-based approaches to develop innovative, ethical and commercially viable solutions to complex problems.

Entry requirements

Essential entry requirements

Applicants must:

• Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Business and/or Law AND
• Be skilled workers in the fields of Accounting, Business and/or Law AND
• Currently be employed in the Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround industry

Recommended entry requirements

Applicants are best equipped to achieve the course outcomes if they have:

  • As a minimum, language, literacy and numeracy skills that are equivalent to Level 5 of the Australian Core Skill Framework. Details can be found here.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in insolvency
  • Completed relevant training in insolvency such as but not limited to the ARITA Introduction to Insolvency Program or Essential Skills Courses.

Limitations to entry

This course covers detailed and complex legislation. It requires students who have sufficient maturity and work/life experience to analyse complex financial documentation and undertake financial and legal analysis. A high level of language, literacy and numeracy is required.
